About the Producers

THE DIRECTOR

That is Joe on the right. Great swing but has no idea where the ball is going these days. He and his good friend James spent a little time in Scotland this summer. Joe had the idea of qualifying for the Senior British Open but was thankfully talked out of it by James. However, golf has nothing to do with this documentary but it does keep Joe sane. On this page we will introduce you to the people involved in making "Theater Junkies" and the process of how to make a documentary about anything. After each section click on the "more info" link for the expanded version of the producers! more about Joe

Co-Producer Dave

Ok, this really is Dave Melbourne, aka blogman. Dave loves Elvis, his wife Betsy, his son Will, and all of his customers. He also loves Alice Cooper, the Stones, and a few other ancient performers. Dave has finally sent me a couple of pictures so I took down the Elvis stuff even though he thought it was funny. Now, Dave is not only the co-producer of this little documentary but he is also a writer. At least his friends think he is. He won't take the giant leap into freelancing but I have put up a couple of his blogs in the next link, "more about Dave". I thought a better way to give Dave some input about his writing is to let some people he doesn't know read what he has to say about things. So, if you have time please read a little of Dave's musings and then go to the "survey" page and let him know what you think. I'll make sure to pass any of your comments along to Dave to let him know how the public feels. Remember, you don't have to agree with Dave, just give him some input, good or bad. Dave is also the co-producer of this documentary and is constantly asking me what he needs to do. I say nothing for now Dave, but you might start thinking about who is going to pay for all of this. That is what a producer does you know. For more about Dave click on, "more about Dave". more about Dave

Amante Audio

This....is Peggy. She loves doing this kind of stuff but has to fit it in with her traveling. She runs Amante Audio, a small one person shop that specializes in audio, of course. Unlike Dave, Peggy knows exactly what she will be doing. You might remember her as the one who twisted your arm to sign a release before she let you into the theater during auditions. No sign-off, no coming in, period. She is very persistent and was my first choice for that particular job! So, if you want to know more about Peggy and Amante Audio click on, "more about Peggy", it's that simple. more about Peggy

Why a theater doc?

You know, that's a good question. About a year or two ago I read an article in the paper about this woman who spent most of her waking moments at a community theater. No pay, just the satisfaction of being on a stage. I think most of us know there is no money being in theater so why do people do it? Isn't that one moment on stage a little fleeting compared to say television? Or film? So in the back of my head I just had this idea of making a documentary about people who love theater. I suppose these theater junkies feel the same way about theater as I do about golf. But, how do you score a "hole in one" at the theater? So, I want to introduce you to the other two people helping me with this project, Peggy Amante, and Dave Melbourne. They are not quite sure what their role is in all of this but they are willing to do whatever it takes and that's good enough for me. And oh, that's El Gallo of the Fantasticks with Henry and Mortimer climbing out of a box!
