The Fantasticks are in rehearsal
The Fantasticks, directed by Janet Hansen, are in full rehearsals with an opening night set for November 11th. Although the play is a musical there are some strong acting scenes throughout the production. One of the more technical plays put on by The Company OnStage, The Fantasticks story revolves around a girl, a boy, their respective fathers, a literary rape, 2 old actors in need of a job, and one "El Gallo".
The Fantasticks, written by two alumni from The University of Texas for a summer theater production at Barnard College, opened Off-Broadway in 1960 and had a fantastic (no pun intended) run of 17,162 shows. It has played in every state, in over 2,000 cities and towns, and has even been performed at the White House. It is the world's longest running musical and the longest running show in American theater history.
